On the traces of the Grand Traversata Delle Alpi. Over 2.700 meters above sea level. One of the best trips I ever had. (If you are interested in exploring this historical way on your own: I found the site of Jörg Klingenfuß very helpful. Unfortunately only in German.)

We had the luck to find a wild ibex when we woke up at Bivacco Lanti in the morning. Because I had to reduce the weight of my backpack I was not able to bring all my photo equipment with me. Actually I just hat the Nikon D800 fulframe body and the 14-24 f/2.8 Nikkor wideangle lens to shoot this once in a lifetime situation. So excuse the poor image quality: I had to do a lot of cropping to get this result although the D800 offers with its 36 megapixel a lot of range.

Some stonemans as signposts on our path.
